NEWS FROM THE FOREST: Do we need a Bear crossing guard in Salt Springs? I think so!!
Tonight I got a pic I didn't even realize, two bears crossing the street at the same time. I was focused on the bear in the foreground, when I got home and viewed the pics on my 32 inch monitor, I saw the other bear crossing the road in the opposite direction!
The sequence is:
1.They both emerge from the brush.
2.The bottom one looks around and checks for traffic. Think about what I am saying, he literally stopped and check both ways, waited till it was clear, then crossed. I saw him do it.
3. Then they both make their break for the other side of the road, almost as if they were changing shifts!
Our neighborhood is on the right about a quarter mile beyond the tree line and I have seen bears in neighbors backyards, most likely one of these guys rummaging for food, and one right across the street from our home. So it is almost as if the one on the bottom is done for the day and going back to all forest and the other one coming over to the neighborhood to take the night shift for rummaging.
Ocala National Forest. A day in the life of the People of the Forest!
